Who we are
Aporia is a free app from Altruistic Apps, which builds free, ad-free apps that don't collect user data. This policy covers the Aporia website (aporiaapp.com) and the Aporia Android app.
What we don't collect
- No accounts or sign-up. We never ask for your name, email address or phone number.
- No location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone or other device data.
- No advertising, advertising IDs or ad tracking.
- No selling or sharing of personal information with anyone.
What stays on your device
When you save favorite quotes or thinkers, or hide thinkers you don't want to see, that list is kept in your browser's or app's local storage on your own device. It is never sent to us. Clearing the app's data or your browser storage removes it.
What our servers see
Like any website, our servers receive basic technical information needed to deliver pages, such as your IP address and browser type. We use this only to send you the page and to protect the service from abuse (for example, limiting how many requests one address can make). It is held briefly in memory and is not used to identify you, build a profile or track you.
Our site is delivered through Cloudflare, which may process this same technical information to keep the site fast and secure. We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits in aggregate without cookies and without tracking individuals.
Quotes and AI
Quotes come from public sources such as Wikiquote and other open quote collections, and some catalog work (such as finding duplicate quotes and suggesting quotes for thinkers with few entries) is assisted by AI on our servers. None of your information is ever sent to these sources or to any AI service.
Children
Aporia is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above.
